Medisafe Integrates with Human API to Remove the Barrier of Manual Medication Entry
Partnership enables consumers to import their medication lists into Medisafe automatically
BOSTON, MA — August 18, 2015. Medisafe, the leading mHealth platform for medication management with 1.9 million users, announced today that consumers can now import their medication lists from thousands of top hospitals and medical facilities. This new feature is powered by the Human API data platform, the fastest growing network of health and wellness data from labs, clinics, devices, and apps.
Earlier this year, Medisafe entered the Quantified Self movement, whereby users can add, import, and track self-reported biometrics like blood pressure to see how taking their medications as prescribed influences their health results. The Human API partnership takes the next step, enabling patients to import excerpts from their clinical history, and comes immediately on the heels of Medisafe achieving HIPAA compliance last month.
“Just helping patients assemble all of their medication details in one place is a major milestone with major implications for patient health and safety,” said Jon Michaeli, EVP Marketing and Business Development for Medisafe. “But on Medisafe, its importance extends well beyond; we can now help patients get a complete picture of their medication adherence and its health effects, empowering them to make lasting behavior changes. And, we can arm the care continuum with actionable data to closely manage at-risk patients and improve population health outcomes.”
The Medisafe and Human API integration speaks to the overwhelming trend of connectivity and consumer empowerment within the mHealth space. “The same forces of data liquidity that are allowing consumers to transform other industries, can also be used to create a more effective, personal, and responsive healthcare system,” says Andrei Pop, Chief Executive Officer of Human API. “We enable consumers to securely control their own health data. By working with talented innovators like Medisafe, we’re empowering the patient-centric experience that consumers deserve.”
Thanks to Human API’s functionality, coupled with Medisafe’s new medication image library, app users now have the option to bring in their exact medication, with specifics including medication shape, color, dosage and frequency. Medisafe initially launched the medication import functionality via Human API on its iOS app, with Android to follow in a couple of weeks.
“This new Import feature makes it a lot easier to get started with Medisafe and get more value out of it over time,” said David Julian, Medisafe user. “I take as many as 22 different daily medications, so entering all of them manually would be quite tedious, and I could make mistakes in the process. Now, I get timely reminders for all of my meds, and the app instantly personalizes the experience based on my medications and conditions through the Feed view.”
